Our committees help turn student concerns, ideas, and priorities into meaningful action. Students also serve as representatives on faculty committees that shape academic policy at the Law Center.

Alumni Affairs Committee

Supports the Alumni Affairs Department and develops initiatives to foster engagement between current students and alumni.

Assists with the implementation and promotion of Southern University Law Center’s supplemental bar preparation programs.

Barrister’s Ball Committee

Responsible for planning and executing the annual Barrister’s Ball held each spring semester.

Big L/Lil L Mentorship Committee

Coordinates the mentorship program that pairs first-year students with upperclassmen and organizes a fall mixer event to launch the program.

Community Service Committee

Plans and organizes community service opportunities for student participation throughout the academic year.

Diversity Committee

Creates and leads programming that celebrates and strengthens the diverse makeup of the student body, promoting inclusion and unity.

Elections Committee

Oversees all SBA election activities in strict compliance with the SBA Election Code.

Facilities Committee

Monitors and advocates for improvements to campus facilities while keeping students informed about maintenance, renovations, and other facility related developments.

Fall Fest Committee

Plans and coordinates the annual Fall Fest, student-centered events and activities to be held during the Fall semester.

Financial Advancement Committee

Develops fundraising, sponsorship and merchandise initiatives to support SBA programs and enhance student opportunities.

Promotes student well-being by organizing programs and events focused on physical, mental, and emotional health and wellness.

Orientation Committee

Assists in planning the orientation activities for incoming first year students and in the preparation for Fall Orientation.

Plans and schedules events for Law Week, which is celebrated every spring semester.

Judicial Committee

Handles the adjudication of internal matters and disputes involving non-Honor Code violations, constitutional issues, election appeals, and general grievances.

Academic Affairs Committee

Responsible for academic standards and procedures, including academic standing, transfers and visitation, graduation requirements and waivers, and academic support programs.

Oversees and advises on matters related to the Clinical Education Program.

Code of Student Conduct Appeal Board (Non-Academic)

Reviews and determines appeals of disciplinary decisions from the Judiciary Committee on non-academic matters.

Code of Student Conduct Judiciary (Non-Academic)

Hears all disciplinary actions not involving violations of the Academic Honor Code.

Curriculum Committee

Reviews and makes recommendations on course offerings, credit hours, long-term instructional planning, and clinical and academic support programs. Recommendations are submitted to the general faculty for approval.

Assists in planning and evaluating foreign study and student exchange programs, and recommends revisions, additions, or discontinuations of international programs.

Supports the implementation of grade appeals in accordance with institutional rules and procedures.

Conducts investigations into alleged violations of the Code of Student Conduct.
